As part of the volunteering project at the school a group of teachers and pupils underwent training to become dementia friends. They received training and met with a lady who has dementia and learned about the effects of this on her and her family. Pupils and staff gained a great deal from the experience, enabling them to understand dementia a little better.
Miss Woodward: “The pupils were really engaged and have learned a lot from the session. They are confident that they can now volunteer in the community and work with providers to support people with dementia”
Noah year 9: “This is amazing for the community and I am pleased to be able to be a part of it as a member of Penketh High School.”
Olivia year 9: “I really enjoyed it and learned that dementia is not a bad thing.”
