As parents will be aware there were some cases of illness at school last week. The majority of pupils remained in school unaffected.
The school followed the advice of both infection control and Public Health after they had made all schools in the area aware of a likely increase in cases of illness. There has been an increase in cases of illness in the wider community, not just in schools.
We are aware that some schools in the North West have needed to close, but this hasn’t been suggested to our school as part of the advice from the health authorities.
Obviously the weekend provides the suggested 48 hour period in which pupils are asked to remain absent following symptoms ceasing and, as the number of new cases significantly reduced as the week progressed, we’d expect to see the vast majority of pupils affected returning to school on Monday.
